In Levare there are two boule courts and on the outskirts a recreation field with tennis courts. There are also several bicycles in various sizes and states of repair in the house. At Gorron (7km) there are bars, restaurants, supermarkets, an indoor swimming pool and a lake with swings etc. for younger children. Close to Fougères (about 20km) there is a forest with a man-made beach and lake for swimming, horse riding, and scenic walks. The town has an historic castle and an excellent Saturday morning market and pavement cafés. At Ambrières there is an outdoor swimming pool, a 'pitch and put' golf course, children's play area, riding school and pedalos & canoeing on the river.

A little further afield the historic town of Lassay le Chateau has an impressive castle - see left. Between Lassay and Ambriere there is also what is known as the Velo-rail (see above) - a french experience which is great fun for all the family!

The famous Mont St Michel is about an hour away and a little further west the medieval coastal town of St Malo is well worth a visit.

Don't forget that you can also buy lots of wine to try whilst relaxing or barbecuing in the garden, or nominate a driver so that you can visit the numerous apple farms in the region to taste and buy cider and Calvados.
