The Village

Sample Alt Text
The village has a boulangerie that sells fresh bread and the best croissants you'll ever eat - almost directly opposite the house. A little further up the road there is a bar (left) where you can eat a fixed menu 3-course meal at lunchtime for 11 euros each including wine or cider. Alternatively if you book in advance you can have an evening meal (4 or 5 courses fixed menu) for around 15 euros each.

On the outskirts of the village on the Carelles road, there is the original 'lavare' that gives the village its name. This is a washing pool where clothes washing used to be done. On two sides of the pool there are covered areas where clothing was hung up to dry. The pool is fed by a fresh water spring that still provides drinking water for a number of residents (by choice, not necessity) and which is tested by the water authority regularly for safety.
